Welcome To ABA Houston |
![]() |
Forgiveness is a funny thing. It warms the heart and cools the sting.

Houston area bridge players return home with a
Texan-size
bundle of Firsts.
Almost every member of the Houston contingent return home with a first place finish,
many with multiple firsts.
The Houston continent was lead by Bill Turner and Angela Hester who broke the stranglehold Bingham and Thomas had on the Mixed-Pairs crown. Bill and Angela finished the tournament by winning the Presidential Pairs Championship. Those regular Tuesday and Thursday ACBL games are paying off.
Marian Womack received her fourth crown as the Joyce Williams Derby champion. Judy and Johnny were recognized as Diamond and Ruby Champions, respectively of the Summer Nationals. Johnny was also recognized as the William Friend's Ruby Champion. Did Johnny win the 2012 Spring National Diammond Championship?
Pat Sadler continue her success with her traveling partner, Mosell Cofer,.
They were joined by Sharon Alexander
and Jewel Dixon to win the
CG FREDD KO FLIGHT D event.
Lovie and Gloria continue to show that they are a formidable
pair in the
'Under 2000' field.
Joe and James teamed with James Lee and Shirley McGinnis, to win the
SECOND CHANCE KO--FLT S.
Johnny played with David Smith from the DC area and finished with
three firsts, two seconds and a little more. We suspect he's still not happy
with his performance.
The Houston Bridge Unit added 11 new members and one new club to its rolls. It leads the SW section in recruitment. The new members are:
| Muriel Funches | Donna D Smith | Bonnie Hall |
| Evelyn Holloway | Hazel Thorpe | Roosevelt Eiland |
| Charles Salsman | Mary Salsman | Bonnie Walker |
| Sam Shorter | Patricia McCann |
The eleven new members represents over 5.5 % of all new recruitments in the ABA.

It had been noted by one of our members that Judson Robinson Community
Center was in need of a paper cutter. After our successful Promotional Benefit Game on Jan. 13, 2012, it was decided that we would use some proceeds and donate the paper cutter to them. We have had a wonderful relationship with them for several years. They have provided us with excellent facilities and services, and the staff is beyond compare
On January 18, 2012, Lillie Shannon and Gloria Tapscott presented the gift to Connie Kadirifu "Facility Manager" and Pamela Johnson of the Judson Robinson Community Center. We look forward to many more years of Bridge events with them.
